Active Time - 5 minutes. Total Time - 5 minutes
If you never knew how easy it is to make a rich, decadent chocolate sauce to use as you please (store bought cake, box brownies, popcorn, pretzels, ice cream…) then consider yourself enlightened. This not only takes 5 minutes, it’s only 2 ingredients. This is based off a standard ganache recipe, but with a bit more heavy cream so that the sauce remains smooth and pliable. If you want it to harden, like for chocolate dipped pretzels, just dial back on the heavy cream so the ratio is more 50/50. The key to making this sauce amazing is to use high quality chocolate. If you have several half eaten chocolate bars on hand, have fun making your own blend. I like to make this sauce and pour it over store-bought angel food cake that I broil for a few minutes in the oven, and top with crushed pistachios.
3 oz dark, bittersweet or semi-sweet dark chocolate, chopped
¾ cup heavy cream
1 - Add both chocolate and heavy cream to a small saucepan
2 - heat over low heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate is fully melted.
3 - If you want the sauce to firm up a little, let it sit for 5 minutes in the pan. Otherwise, drizzle immediately on anything that deserves some hot chocolate goodness.
